Mini Ep 20: Why you don’t have time (and why that’s a spongy kind of truth)

How do you feel about TIME?

If you’re neurodivergent, time can be a funny one. Five minutes can feel like five seconds or five hours, and an hour of hyperfocus can sometimes vanish in the blink of an eye! In this mini episode I talk about why estimating time can be so hard when you run your own business as an ADHDer, and the simple things I do so I’m reliably just about on time.

In this episode:

  • Why ADHDers can have a “spongy” relationship with time

  • Why “I don’t have time” is often “I don’t make time”

  • Why “how long is a piece of string?” is a pricing problem, not only a time problem

  • A simple first step: gather the data, because your brain is not a reliable source

  • A bigger next step: buffer, buffer, buffer. Assume it’ll take twice as long, then add 50%

  • How this helps hold the boundaries of my 24-hour week

  • CEO You, Employee You, Parent/Carer You and Human You: juggling the needs of the four of you running off one battery
